How I stayed at Four Seasons Bogotá for $18.33 USD/night

Ok, admittedly this is a little bit of click bate, but hear me out. In September 2021 I stayed at Four Seasons Bogota for three nights over a long weekend. The property is part of American Express’s Fine Hotels & Resorts collection which gets Platinum card holders the following benefits—

  • Daily breakfast for two
  • Experience Credit: US$ 100 Food and beverage credit to be used during your stay
  • 4pm check-out guaranteed
  • 12pm check-in, when available
  • Room upgrade at check-in, when available
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi

At the time of booking, the nightly rate was $262.50/night, so the total for my stay should have been $787.50. They had a promotion where if you stay two nights, the third is free (still available as of posting this), so the total was $525. I used 17,000 MR points ($0.01 x 17k= $170) to help offset the cost, bringing the total down to $355. Normally this isn’t the best use of points, but I figured with all the other AMEX incentives factored in, the effective value/point ended up being $0.046 so it was worth it. Since it was part of the Fine Hotels program, it was eligible for the new $200 hotel credit on the Platinum card that came out in July of this year. This brought the total to $155 that I actually paid out. When you also factor in the $100 food & beverage credit, that brings the effective total for three nights to $55.

$525 for two nights, with third night free
-$170 MR point offset (17k points)
-$200 FHR credit
-$100 F&B on-property credit
=$55 effective cost for three nights

The overall experience was great! Upon arrival in my Uber, someone immediately took my bags to the front desk where I was offered an espresso. The attendant spoke fluent English and explained all the Fine Hotel benefits while checking me in. She also remembered me throughout the weekend and greeted me by name every time I walked by.

After checkin, someone walked me to my room (which was upgraded from what I paid for) and carried my luggage. He showed me all the features of the room before leaving.

I decided to start utilizing the food & beverage credit that night at the hotel restaurant, LA BIBLIOTECA. The service was amazing as was the smoked bourbon cocktail I had. My chicken was a little dry, but not bad. The final bill was under $50 US and covered the entree, two cocktails, bottled water, desert and tip. I ended up using the rest of the $100 F&B credit towards more of those smoked cocktails throughout the weekend!
